MANGALDAI, Sept 22 - Kabirali Football Club, Udalguri annexed the 38th Amba Medhi Football Tournament title here today.
In the final played at the Mangaldai stadium, Kabirali boys defeated three time champions ASEB Sports Club 4-1 via tie breaker. In the 19th minute, Deep Burglary scored for Kabirali but the lead did not last long as after 10 minutes Akram Nurzary equalised for ASEB. Both the teams played attacking football but failed to find the back of the net in regulation time.
In tie breaker, Kabirali custodian Mahesh Soren came to the rescue as he saved a shot from Sanjay Boro while Akram Nurzary and Biplab Kundu�s strike were far away from the target. On the other hand, Deep Burglary, Jayanta Boro and Jonpol Malko scored for the winners. Deep Burglary was adjudged the best player while the award for the best goal keeper went to Mahesh Soren. The Kabirali FC side bagged the Amba Medhi memorial trophy along with a cash award of Rs 30,000 while ASEB bagged the Ratneswar Kataki memorial runners-up trophy. In the prize distribution ceremony, Mangaldai Sports Association president Basanta Das, Assam Football Association vice president Dilip Barkataki, among others were present as guests and gave away the prizes.
