GUWAHATI, June 26 - Greater Guwahati Rabindra Jayanti Udjapan Samiti has welcomed the decision to appoint Dr Amalendu Chakraborty as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of newly established Rabindranath Tagore University, which was a long-standing demand of the Samity, stated a press release.
The Samity�s president, Ramen Deka, and working president Debashish Sengupta, expressed their heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in this regard.
General secretaries of the Samity, Rajib Das and Sankar Chakraborty, greeted Dr Chakraborty with a traditional Assamese gamosa and flowers at a function held on the university premises on the occasion.
Addressing a small gathering, Dr Amalendu Chakraborty expressed his concern over divisive policies of Trinamol Congress supremo and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee regarding Assam.
