Alliance between Aiudf-Congress unholy: Bjp

By Staff Correspondent

SHILLONG, March 31 - The BJP today attacked the Congress for its unholy alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), a party championing the cause of illegal Muslim migrants from Bangladesh.

The BJPs Shillong Lok Sabha seat candidate Sanbor Shullai said while the BJP has ties with indigenous parties like Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland Peoples Front, the Congress has ties with the AIUDF.

The Congress has ties with AIUDF, a party formed by Badruddin Ajmal and seen as the champion of the causes of illegal Muslim migrants from Bangladesh, the BJP candidate alleged.

He further stated that the alliance can harm the demographic structure of Northeastern States including Meghalaya, which share its boundary with Bangladesh.

Shullai said that only BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi can secure the Nation from such unholy alliance.

The AIUDF is an Assam-based political party formed by perfume baron, Ajmal. The party has fielded only three candidates in Assam so that anti-BJP votes dont get divided.

Reportedly, a section of the Congressmen in Assam wants to field weak candidates in the three seats where the AIUDF is contesting, which the BJP is claiming is an understanding between the two parties. However, another section of the Congress wants to go full throttle in all the seats.

Meanwhile, the Congress candidate and sitting MP from Shillong seat has said in a rally at South Shillong constituency, which Shullai represents in the Meghalaya Assembly, that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dangerous for the country.

He said demonetisation was a wrong move and as a result of which Indians suffered. Other Congress leaders said that India needs a Prime Minister not a Chowkidar (watchman.)
