NORTH GUWAHATI, Aug 20 � The historic Allaboi War, fought between the Assamese and Mughal soldiers on August 14, 1669 where 10,000 Assamese soldiers sacrificed their lives for protection of their motherland, was remembered and ceremonial tributes paid to the martyrs in a meeting organised at Amingaon under the aegis of the Saraighat Journalists� Forum.
The general secretary of the forum, Madhusudan Medhi explained the purpose of the meeting while the president of the forum Paresh Baishya analysed in details the historic war and its aftermath. In his speech, he urged the Government concerned to include a lesson on the war in the school textbook prepared by Assam Government and NCERT authority. Several members of various print and electronic media were present in the meeting.
