TURA, Nov 3 Thousands of Roman Catholics throughout the Garo Hills celebrated All Souls Day yesterday with traditional piety and fervour.

On the Day Catholics remember their beloved departed ones and pray for Gods mercy and forgiveness upon them. Catholics visited the tombs of their dear ones, decorated them with flowers, lit candles and prayed for the departed souls.

Bishop Rev Andrew Marak addressed the several thousand Catholics who came to participate in prayers and Holy Mass at the Catholic Cemetary here.

After the Holy Mass special prayers were offered for the departed souls and the decorated tombs that had been lit up with thousands of candles and fresh flowers were blessed with holy water by the priests.

Earlier during the day, the Bishop of Tura also presided over a Mass at the Catholic cemetary at Dakopgre. Similar celebrations were also held at Williamnagar, Baghmara and other Churches in Garo Hills.
