All India Railway Cricket underway

GUWAHATI, March 20 - The 61st All India Railway Cricket meet got underway at the Maligaon Railway Stadium and Barsapara Stadium here respectively. The tournament was declared open by Manoj Joshi, SDGM, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) at the Maligaon Stadium while at Barsapara, the tournament was inaugurated by Ravi Bhusan. Altogether 8 teams qualified for the knock-out stage including NCR, DLW, Metro, SCR, NCR, RWF, CR and ECOR. Today�s quarterfinal match was played between DLW and NCR at the Maligaon Stadium. DLW batted first and scored 186 runs with Ashish Yadav top scoring with 55 runs off 52 deliveries. NCR in reply managed to put up 126 for two till the stumps were drawn for the day. JP Singh top scored with 84 runs off 119 balls. Abhishek Sharma took five wickets.

At the Barsapara Stadium, SCR batting first went on to pile up 401 runs in 90 overs with G Shyam Sundar scoring an unbeaten 217 off 237 balls. M Suresh scored 51 off 123 balls, stated a press release.
