All India Oriental Conference at GU

GUWAHATI, Oct 11 � The 47th session of the All India Oriental Conference will be held at the Gauhati University (GU) from January 2 to 4, a press release received here stated.

The first session of the All India Oriental Conference was held in 1918 and the subsequent sessions were being held in different places of India at an interval of two years. The executive committee of the All India Oriental Conference held at Srinagar in 2012 resolved to hold the 47th session of this conference at the Gauhati University.

The Gauhati University has entrusted the responsibility of organising the conference to the Department of Sanskrit. Besides, the organising committee has already started preliminary works for the three-day conference.

Reputed orientalist Pandit Radha Ballav Tripathi will preside over this session of the All India Oriental Conference. The academic sessions of this conference under the chairmanship of eminent scholars of the country in 22 different sections will take place during this conference.

About 1,500 scholars and researchers have already contacted the organising committee, expressing their willingness to participate and present research papers in the conference and have also submitted abstracts of their research papers.

The organising committee solicits the support and co-operation of all for holding the conference successfully at the Gauhati University, the release concluded.
