All India Karate meet begins

GUWAHATI, July 6 - Nitul Gogoi, DIG, Assam Police, and Sanjiv Narain, CMD, Prag News were awarded honorary black belt by Wadokai India.

The honours of awarding the black belts was done by Sensei Donald Tyson, Chief, Wadokai Karate-do, India today, at the inaugural session of the two-day 2nd All India Invitational Karate Championship being held at the Bhogeswari Phukanoni Indoor Stadium, Dispur.

More than 280 participants will be seen in action in the championship from the states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Tripura, Manipur and host State Assam.

The championship is being held in the memory of SV Narain, (late father of Sanjiv Narain).

Rishi, from Tamil Nadu was awarded the JKF black belt by Donald Tyson at the inaugural session and it is pertinent to mention that R@ishi recently became a world champion in Tokyo.

The championship has been organised by the All Style Karate-do Association of Assam. The closing function is scheduled to be held tomorrow.
