SILCHAR, Oct 10 - National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar will host the All India NIT Tournament for Table Tennis and Yoga here at its renovated sports complex from October 11 to 13.
Prof Sibaji Bandopadhyay, director of the institute informed the media on Thursday that the three-day national level sports event will feature as many as 215 participants (including male and female) for the two categories from 17 NITs including the hosts. �Sports unite people, youngsters and students in particular. We had successfully organised a similar national level event back in 2015 and now we look forward to make the upcoming sports event achieve its objective to bring the best talents to the fore. We also believe that participants from our own NIT shall bring laurels to the institute,� the director maintained.
Minister of Forest, Fisheries and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya will ceremonially declare the competition open in the presence of Cachar DC Laya Madduri and other faculty members and staff of the institute, he added.
