Ghunasuti (North Lakhimpur), Feb 18 - Ali Aye Ligang, the festival celebrating the commencement of the agrarian season of the Mising community began here with traditional ceremony today in Ghunasuti the legendary ground of Jonki-Panoi, the epic love story of Rajanikanta Bordoloi�s Miri Jiyari (The Mising Maiden).
The two-day cultural extravaganza, organised centrally by Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam in association with Lakhimpur district administration and the Brihattar Ghunasuti Ali Aye Ligang Celebration Committee which commenced today with the hoisting of the flag by Dr Dambaru Dhar Mili, president of the organising committee at Migang Taburam Taid Lotta this morning. This was followed by smriti tarpan by Puneswar Taid, executive president of the organising committee and sapling plantation ceremony led by Nityananda Mili, chief adviser of Brihattar Ghunasuti Ali Aye Ligang Celebration Committee. Competitions of various cultural performances like �Oyinitom�, �Gumrag�, �Lotta So man� were also held today on that occasion.
