Alert along Bangla border in Tripura

AGARTALA, Aug 12 � An alert has been sounded along the 856-km long Indo-Bangla border in Tripura ahead of the Independence Day celebrations to thwart subversive activities with two banned insurgent outfits having called to observe it as a �black day�.

Jawans of paramilitary Tripura State Rifles (TSR) were deployed along BSF personnel to guard the border to check infiltration of ultras who were still using the soil of Bangladesh, DIG, Police Control, Nepal Das said.

�We have to be cautious as two jawans of BSF were killed at Ratia, a remote tribal hamlet bordering Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh in Dhalai district in an ambush on August 6 last,� Das said.

With the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) having called to observe it as �black day�, security forces were augmented near vital installations like Raj Bhavan, civil secretariat, assembly house here and vehicles entering into the State capital was being subjected to checks. � PTI
