GUWAHATI, Jan 25 - The 20th edition of Alcheringa 2016 � the annual event of IIT Guwahati � will get under way with a performance by acclaimed sarod masters Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan on the opening night of �Saaz� on January 28.
The final day of the festival will have the Finnish folk metal band Korpiklaani on January 31. The theme of the event is �Gamescape�, which is about physical realization of the virtual world of gaming.
The highlights of the festival are its four professional nights � each corresponding to a different genre. They are Saaz � The Classical Night, Blitzkrieg � The EDM Night, Crescendo � The Bollywood Night and Juggernaut �The Professional Band Night.
Alcheringa will have eight performances from across the world. Irish folk music band Fasta, Jazz band from Singapore Tropic Green, Australian poetry slam artists Omar Musa, UK technical metal band Metastasis, Portuguese horn player Michael Faustino and two street shows from Ireland by Murray Molloy and Logy.
The Assam Tribune is a co-presenter of Alcheringa 2016.
