GUWAHATI, June 11 - Dhrupad Kashyap won the first edition of the Akshayam Invitational Chess Challenge organised by Assam Chess Club.
Dhrupad remained undefeated by scoring 7 points out of 7 rounds. Manthan Kashyap Datta secured the 2nd position by scoring 4.5 points while Bhabishnu Pranti Bordoloi also scored 4.5 points but had to be content with the 3rd position.
The tournament was an invitational event in which only 19 rated players having international rating were invited to participate. It was for the first time in the region that an invitational tournament only for rated players was organised, stated a release.
