AKRSU calls bandh to protest schoolboy killing

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 22 � The All Koch Rajbongshi Students� Union (AKRSU) has strongly protested yesterday�s police action at Fakiragram which resulted in the death of a school-going boy identified as Dhananjay Roy (16), who succumbed to his injuries last night at RNB Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar.

Tension is prevailing in and around Fakiragram following the incident.

According to sources, a large number of local AKRSU supporters yesterday ransacked the Fakiragram police station following the arrest of one AKRSU supporter, Kankan Roy in connection with the broad daylight shooting of college student Depti Roy at Kashibari village under Fakiragram PS in Kokrajhar on November 19 last.

The AKRSU meanwhile has called for a 24-hour Assam bandh in protest against the killing of the schoolboy.

Meanwhile, AKRSU while condemning the incident of police atrocity as most unfortunate, demanded immediate action against the police official responsible and release of the innocent persons arrested by police. At the same time AKRSU has demanded compensation to the tune of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and also a govt job, and Rs 1 lakh to those injured.
