AKRSU bandh hits normal life

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 15 - The 24-hour Assam bandh called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Students� Union (AKRSU) on Monday demanding ST status to the community and declaration of Kamatapur as a State passed off peacefully affecting the normal life in some parts of Assam.

The bandh, which started from 5 am, affectedly normal life in Kokrajhar district. All shops, business and financial establishments remained closed. Vehicles were also off the road. However, no untoward incident has been reported during the bandh.

Morigaon Correspondent adds: In Morigaon district, normal life was paralysed due the bandh. Shops and business establishments remained closed while vehicles stayed off the roads. However, ASTC buses were plying normally on NH-37 with police escort. Government offices were opened with a thin attendance. The production works of Jagiroad Paper Mill was normal.
