LONDON, Sept 23 (PTI): There seems no respite for the Pakistan cricket team here as after facing spot-fixing allegations, temperamental fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has landed the scandal-hit side in the middle of a ball-tampering controversy. Akhtar was caught on camera tampering with the cricket ball during their fifth ODI match against England last night at the Rose Bowl stadium in Southampton, which Pakistan lost by a massive 121 runs.

In the last game of their acrimonious tour of England at the Rose Bowl last night fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar could be seen apparently running his left thumb along the balls seam before dropping the ball on the ground and standing on it with his spiked right boot, the Daily Mail reported today. Sportsmails pictures were taken in the 41st over of Englands innings as Shoaib prepared to bowl to Paul Collingwood, it said.

Indians coast to easy victory again in Chess Olympiad

Khanty Mansiysk (Russia), Sept 23 (PTI): Indians continued to dominate the 39th Chess Olympiad here after both the mens womens teams coasted to fine victories over International International Committee of Silent Chess (ICSC) and Indonesia respectively by an identical margins. Both the teams won 3.5-0.5 to maintain a clean slate in the event.

Top-rated Indian Krishnan Sasikiran was the only player to drop a half point on the top board when he was held to a draw by Yehuda Gruenfeld while the remaining three Indians won easily to take their match point aggregate to four from the first two rounds. It turned out to be good day for the Indian eves in the womens section as well as they overwhelmed Indonesia by a similar score. Only Nisha Mohota found the going tough against Warda Aulia Medina and had to concede a draw.

Meanwhile, at the top of the table, Vietnamese men caused a sensation by defeating seventh seeds Azerbaijan 2.5-1.5.
