Akhils charge on Puri rest house

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, July 18 The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) which had threatened to divulge the alleged financial misdeeds of Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma one by one, on Sunday disclosed that Himantas children dedicated one rest house worth Rs 20 crore in Puri on January 5, 2009 in the name of their great grandfather.

Addressing media persons here, secretary of KMSS Akhil Gogoi alleged that the rest house was inaugurated by Sarmas mother Mrinalini Sarma and the ceremonial lamp was lighted by Sarmas wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma.

Gogoi regretted that the minister was unnecessarily involving his children in his murky dealings.

Gogoi questioned how two innocent children could get the money needed for acquiring ownership of such an expensive guest house. He demanded that the minister make public his source of the transaction and inquiry into whether public fund meant for development work in the State was used in the deal.

Gogoi further said that the timing of the inauguration of the rest house coincided with the period when the NC Hills financial scam was at its peak.
