By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, Sept 18 - Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Imdad Ahmed today remanded sedition-accused KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi to judicial custody till September 25, 2017 and granted bail to Pradip Haloi, another accused in the same case with a surety.

Police had sought remand of Akhil Gogoi for ten more days but the court rejected it. Pranjal Gogoi, the counsel for accused Akhil Gogoi and Pradip Haloi, said that they will be placing another bail petition before the Dibrugarh District & Sessions Judge tomorrow. He hoped that Akhil Gogoi would get bail September 25.

The peasant leader was arrested after he had reportedly said at a public meeting near Moran that an armed struggle would have to be adopted if the rights of the indigenous people were infringed upon by the BJP-led government.
