SILCHAR, Sept 25 - Condemning the slogan �Hindu Bengalis should leave Assam� by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti and its allies in a rally organized at Guwahati on September 22 as unlawful, the Citizens� Rights Preservation Committee (CRPC), Assam has criticized the attitude of KMSS chief Akhil Gogoi.
In a release issued to the media, Bidhayak Das Purkayastha, general secretary of the CRPC, asked, �Who has given power and authority to Akhil Gogoi to make such an abusive and derogatory comment against the Bengali Hindus on behalf of all other communities of Assam?�
The leaders of the committee demanded a clarification from Akhil Gogoi on his contribution, as also his party and the so-called sons of the soil in the allround development of the State till date.
Throwing strong challenge at Gogoi, the CRPC leaders asked him to come up with a comparative analysis of the contributions made by the Bengali Hindus and other minority communities on one hand, and the contribution of the sudden uprising sons of the soil in black and white.
The CRPC, Assam has raised questions on the source of data dished out by Akhil Gogoi that Assam has to bear the burden of 20 lakh Hindu Bengalis. The leaders underscored the fact that the notification made by the Central Government is applicable for entire India and not only the State of Assam. When the other states of India have not raised any objection to the notification, then what is the motive behind the hue and cry of some particular organizations and parties of Assam in this regard, asked the CRPC members.
The CRPC, Assam has warned that the KMSS must not forget that their fight is for the rights and privileges of the farmers, so they should confine themselves to that particular arena. The leaders of the CRPC, Assam suggested that if Akhil Gogoi is really dedicated and committed to the uplift of Assam, then he should broaden his outlook as a nationalist, giving up chauvinism and regionalism. He should come forward with some positive and constructive attitude so that Assam may be counted among the developed states of India with the true example of �Unity in Diversity�, the organization said.
