Akhil demands CMs resignation

By Correspondent

BADARPUR, June 29 Peasant leader Akhil Gogoi has demanded the resignation of both Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the State DGP Khagen Sarma, for the Governments failure to nab the killers of Ghazi Tofail Ahmed, a peoples leader from Bhanga area under Badarpur PS and the setting up of a CBI inquiry into the case. Gogoi made these demands at a public meeting held here on Tuesday, organised by Badarpur Against Social Evils (BASE).

In his speech, Gogoi said that he will organise a mass movement in Guwahati demanding an immediate CBI inquiry into the killing as also in all other such incidents, which have occurred in Badarpur-Bhanga in the last few years, but where the victims have not yet been given proper justice by the Government and police administrations. He strongly criticised the governments disinterestedness in setting up a CBI inquiry into the mysterious killing of Ghazi Tofail Ahmed. He also flayed Ministers Gautam Roy and Siddek Ahmed, MLAs and MPs of Barak Valley for their selfish activities.

Gogoi also demanded the speedy completion of the BG track and the mahasadak. He said, I am astonished to see the very serious condition of the roads of the Barak valley, which prove that it is the only place in the whole of India, where the word development has no meaning, and for this the MLAs, MPs, and the ministers of the region are totally responsible. He said that both Delhi and Dispur have neglected the Barak Valley people. Regarding the Tipaimukh-Barak dam, Akhil said that he will forcefully thwart the Barak dam, as it will be very harmful for the people both of Barak Valley and Bangladesh.
