GUWAHATI, Sept 14 The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) today raised its voice against the divisive forces bent on diluting the foreigners expulsion movement in the State through polarization on communal line and appealed to the people to join its Integration Chain rally scheduled on September 15 in Guwahati.
The student body is organizing this programme to unite people of all caste, community and religion to fight against the divisive forces and to work towards strengthening the foreigners expulsion movement. The integration chain will start from Latasil field here.
Addressing mediapersons here, AJYCP president Manoj Baruah alleged that a section was making every effort to dilute the foreigners expulsion movement by igniting communal sentiments. The governments, both at the State and the Centre, have failed to honour the clauses of the Assam Accord and that is why influx in Assam is unabated till date, threatening the very existence of the indigenous communities, said Baruah asserting that the need of the hour was to intensify the foreigners expulsion movement.
It needs to be mentioned here that the AJYCP has been organising different protest programmes across the State demanding identification and deportation of foreigners and securing the interests of the indigenous communities.
Unchecked influx has reduced the indigenous people to the status of refugees and this is indicative of the grim future ahead for the State if the government does not consider the issue of infiltration seriously, pointed out Baruah regretting that the government easily bowed down to those forces that had stalled the pilot NRC update process.
Baruah said that the people of Assam wanted concrete assurance from the government that the NRC would be updated within a stipulated time frame.
The State government has been lackadaisical towards the issue of foreigners and NRC update. It must take the necessary steps to update the NRC at the earliest, said Baruah.
