AJYCP for rollback of fuel price hike

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, June 30 - Strongly criticizing the Prime Minister Narendra Mod-led Union government for the steep increase in the diesel and petrol prices, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) today said that the government has started exploitation of common people, who are already hit by the pandemic and subsequent economic slowdown.

Its unfortunate that instead of extending a helping hand to the poor and middle class people, who are already bearing the brunt of the pandemic and lockdown, the government has decided to go for a fuel price hike. Needless to say, it will have an adverse impact on common people as fuel rate hike is directly linked to the price rise of all essential commodities, said AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai.

The Parishad also alleged that the Union government has utterly failed to effectively manage the economic situation in the country and it is trying to fix its errors by passing the burden on the people of the country.

We strongly oppose this economic exploitation and erroneous economic policies of the Modi government. Nothing can justify this exorbitant rate of price hike, when the fuel rates in the international markets are very less. Even if we consider all taxes and import duties, such an inflated price rise cannot be justified, the Parishad alleged.

On Monday, the AJYCP members burned the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in several places of the State.

It asked the Centre to roll back the prices immediately. Else, we will launch a strong democratic agitation against such economic exploitation by the Union government, the AJYCP stated.
