GUWAHATI, Aug 2 The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) today reacted strongly to the State Government act of forming a ten-member Cabinet sub-committee to look into the matter of updating the 1951 National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The organization has warned of vigorous agitations against all moves of the State Government to delay the process of updating the NRC.
It has described the above step as anti-indigenous people. This is going to slow down the entire process of updating the document against the wish of the indigenous people of the State, that the process should be expedited, said the organisation in a statement here today.
The State Government is taking recourse to some tricks like suspending the process of implementing the pilot projects for updating the NRC and forming a huge Cabinet sub-committee to look into the entire matter only to suit its vote-bank politics, alleged the AJYCP.
