AJYCP fetes 66 persons in Tinsukia dist

DOOMDOOMA, April 1 - Tinsukia District Committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) felicitated 66 persons of Tinsukia district for their contributions to various fields at a special programme held at the auditorium of Tinsukia College on Sunday.

Out of the 66 persons, 20 were felicitated posthumously.

The special felicitation programme was chaired by well-known author and award-winning teacher Sarat Chandra Chiring Phukan. Two books containing biographies of persons who were felicitated were also released.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, eminent author and intellectual Mayur Bora appreciated the Tinsukia District Committee of AJYCP for organising such a programme. He lamented that many Assamese persons in spite of their worthy contribution in various fields did not get any recognition.

Referring to freedom fighter Amalprabha Das, who refused to accept freedom fighter�s award, illustrated Assamese woman�s simplicity and high thinking.

Dr Pallavi Deka Bujarbaruah, HoD of Assamese, Dibrugarh University, Tinsukia College Principal Rana Changmai and AJYCP central committee general secretary Palash Changmai also addressed the gathering.

All Moran Students� Union president Arunjyoti Moran, AASU Tinsukia district secretary Samar Gohain, AJYCP Tinsukia District Committee advisor Hitesh Deori and several others also attended the programme.

Earlier, AJYCP Tinsukia District Committee president Surajit Moran delivered the welcome address.

Persons who were felicitated on the occasion include Nahendra Padun, Harendra Nath Borthakur, Punya Saikia, Joykanta Gandhiya, Sushil Kumar Gogoi, Dr Prafulla Medhi, Sarifa Khatoon Choudhury, Pranati Baruah, Srikumar Dohutia, Purnananda Baruah, Pramod Sonowal, Bisa Nang Singphow, Dileswar Tanti, Santanu Das, Tarun Rajkhowa, Abdul Rauf, Hiteswar Borgohain, Sukhidhar Dohutia, Daman Chutia, Judhhabir Rana, Amulya Khataniar, Arjun Baruah, Himen Bhattacharya, Gakul Sharma, Gunindranarayan Chutia, Padmeswri Borgohain, Tikaram Chetri, Abdul Haque Baruah, Drona Charingia Phukan, Rana Changmai, Dr Sashikanta Saikia, Tarun Baruah Moran, Lakhinandan Gogoi, Kushal Saikia, Panchanan Konwar, Dipan Moran, Bapuram Bora, Laxman Prasad, Pradeep Dohutia, Dulal Manki, Durlava Moran and Hema Gogoi.

Those who were felicitated posthumously include � Nirod Choudhury, Jadu Borpujari, Robin Choudhury, Hari Borkakoty, Dr Dipali Dutta, Gagan Sonowal, Bhabananda Burhagohain, Kutubuddin Ahmed, Mohan Saikia, Khetradhar Borgohain, Robin Moran, Jogendra Nath Deka, Harihar Choudhury, Girish Moran, Molia Tanti, Pushpalata Dutta, Bijoy Kumar Tirkey, Deben Medhi, Bijoy Mazumder and Radhakrishna Khemka.
