By Correspondent

DOOMDOOMA, Sept 22 - Tinsukia District Committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) in association with its Kakopothar Regional Committee today set up a symbolic check gate at Dirak Gate along Assam-Arunachal border to raise their demand for introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Assam. Hundreds of AJYCP activists participated in the three-hour protest programme.

AJYCP Tinsukia District Committee president Surajit Moran and acting secretary Kanchan Baruah said that only the introduction of ILP system in Assam could protect the all-round interest of the indigenous people of the State and, hence, AJYCP has been demanding the introduction of this system in the State since 1978. The organisation also sent memorandums to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal urging them to take an initiative to introduce ILP system in the State.
