AJYCP condemns attack on mediapersons

GUWAHATI, May 17 � The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Tuesday condemned the attack on city-based electronic mediapersons yesterday and protested against the mushrooming of bogus financial institutions in the State near Dighalipukhuri here.

It needs to be mentioned here that the journalists had gone to cover a story on the doings of such financial institutions.

The student body has demanded the authorities to take strong measures to shut-down fake financial institutions. It has also demanded stringent punishment for those who had manhandled the journalists.

On the other hand, the Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) has strongly condemned the attack on the television journalists on duty by some construction agents.

EMFA president Nava Thakuria and secretary Bimal Ghosh said that Ranjita Rabha (NE TV) and Kumarjit Sharma (Frontier TV) with other colleagues had gone to cover a story on Mudra Devcon Pvt Ltd in Rajgarh against which a section of citizens had brought the allegation of fraud.

As per reports Mudra Devcon agents collects money from the customers against the booking of housing flats and works on chain system of marketing. But there were some allegations of fraudulence against the company by the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) and the student body had provided specific information to the media.

The reporters after arriving at the location started interacting with the customers (mostly women) who were present there and it angered the officials of Mudra Devcon. It led to some hot debates between the media persons and officials of the company, and finally, a section of the officials mishandled the reporter and camerapersons. The EMFA has urged the authorities concerned to take appropriate action against the culprits.
