JORHAT, Nov 2 � Asam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) today burnt the effigy of the Water Resource Minister of Assam Rajib Lochan Pegu at the crossroad near Moktab School here today for his alleged involvement of giving money to ULFA.
Siba Kalita, president, AJYCP, Jorhat district committee told this correspondent that the minister revealed at a meeting held in Majuli on Tuesday that ULFA has been carrying out extortion activities in the State from the ministers and office bears of the Congress party and local panchayat. In such context the minister should be arrested immediately for having understanding with the outfit organisation, he added.
The Congress Government led by Tarun Gogoi in the State failed to provide security to the ministers. In such a situation how it would ensure security to the lives and property of the citizens in the State, he said.
