TEZPUR, Nov 2 - A convenor committee for the Tezpur LAC of the Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) was formed at special party programme at the district library here on Sunday.
Senior journalist Adip Phukan and former AGP senior leader Jagadish Bhuyan were present in the programme. Adip Phukan said that in the present-day political context, regionalism has significance among the people who love their nation, language and culture since a regional party always springs from the land. �Assam is today at stake. The BJP government has already sold many government properties to many private companies. At this moment, if we are not united under the same umbrella of a strong regional party we will not survive,� he said and added that the AJP would move ahead with the commitment of common interest of every caste and community of the regionin mind. �As only 64 seats are required to form the government, we are confident of getting that number and come into power,� he further stated.
Regarding the ongoing Miyan museum issue, Jagadish Bhuyan said that it is a BJP-created political game to polarise the voters. �If not, why has the government not arrested Congress MLA, Sherman Ali as yet,� Jagadish Bhuyan said.
