Ajoy Subba released by abductors

TINSUKIA, Sept 21 � Ajoy Kumar Subba, the abducted small tea grower and nephew of controversial former MP Mani Kumar Subba, who had been missing since September 14 from the vicinity of his Mahakali Grant village under Bordubi PS, reached home in the wee hurs today after he was released by the abductors at Talap under mysterious circumstances.

The police claimed that Subba was released by the abductors, a gang of criminals, due to the pressure created by the security forces in search operations.

Meanwhile, the police arrested two persons with Rs 1.52 lakh in cash from the Kakopathar area in connection with the abduction case today. On the other hand, Subba disclosed that he was abducted wrongly by militnats and later released after they realised the mistake.

Bolin Chetia, MLA said his name was dragged into the Subba abduction case without any basis by a section of the electronic media. Speaking in a press meet alongside Subba and office-bearers of the Gorkha Students� Union, Gorkha Sanmilani, etc., Chetia stated that Subba was his longtime friend and the act of dragging his name was done with a political motive. Subba told the media that he was abducted by six persons with sophisticated weapons and had been on the move for five days after which the abductors informed him that he had been abducted on mistaken identity.
