Ajit Barua Kabita Samagra released

GUWAHATI, April 21 � Ajit Barua Kabita Samagra, a collection of celebrated poet-litterateur Ajit Barua�s complete poems and other writings, has hit the stands today. Well-known poet Kushal Dutta, who is presently working with the Dainik Asam, has compiled and edited the 584-page volume. This much-awaited compilation of complete poems of the highly-acclaimed poet, who passed away early this month, has been published by Bhabani Books.

Ajit Barua, who started his literary journey with a poem in 1939 when he was just 13 years old, had to his credit 93 poems in four collections, 12 lyrics, one novel Ekhan Premar Upanyas, critical essays, translation, satirical autobiographical writings and many other literary and academic endeavours.

This volume includes all the forewords written by the late poet in his collections of poetry, both original and translated (especially from English and French). Further, all his poems in four published collections � Kisuman Padya Aru Gaan, Brahmaputra Ityadi Padya, Goch Premar Padya and Aru Kishuman Padya Aru Gaan � have been included. All the lyrics of songs as well as the poems translated from the original English and French, several hitherto uncompiled poems too have been included.

The book also includes Barua�s three speeches that he delivered as the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, Assam Valley Literary Award and Ganesh Gogoi Bota. There is a critical note on the late poet�s works by Prof Ranjit Kumar Dev Goswami. Three interviews with the poet taken at different phases of his life have also been included.
