AIUDF to contest at least 45 seats: Ajmal

By Correspondent

KALGACHIA, Oct 29 Under the aegis of the Jania constituency committee of AIUDF, a public meeting was held on October 24 at Shewrachara under Jania LAC in Barpeta district on the occasion of first death anniversary of AIUDF leader Muzaffar Ali, who was murdered one year ago by some miscreants when he was the president of Chikni GP. He was later declared as a martyr of the party.

Attending the meeting as chief guest, AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal alleged that one year ago one of their young leaders, Muzaffar Ali, was killed by Congress gundas in broad daylight. In the Barpeta incident, four innocent AAMSU workers were killed by Gogois police force, but it wouldnt have happened if the DC had accepted their memorandum. The same thing happened at Rangiya when three Abamsu workers were killed in police firing. The police could have controlled the situation by resorting to blank fire or lathicharge. Now at Gogois hand our lives are also not safe, but we are not afraid of death. Tarun Gogois bullets will finish but not our heads, Ajmal thundered.

Appealing to the vast gathering not to cast a single vote in favour of the Congress in the next Assembly elections, Ajmal vowed that his party, if Allah wishes, this time will definitely win the Jania LAC and will be able to increase their seats from ten to 30. Interacting with reporters, he clarified that his party will maintain the same distance, both from the BJP and Congress and even if Sonia Gandhi invites him he would not form an alliance with the Congress. The AIUDF plans to contest at least 45 seats in the next elections in Assam and 5 seats would be contested in Barpeta district. He alleged that minorities are being deprived of government jobs. When asked about the report that AIUDF tickets would be offered to reporters, Ajmal remarked that tickets may be given to reporters who have a clean image in the society. Though crores of rupees have been released by the Central Govt to control river-erosion and implement various projects and schemes in the State, nothing has been done for river-erosion and most of the schemes still remain unimplemented, he alleged.

Addressing the gathering, AIUDF working president Hafiz Rashid Chowdhuri called upon the people not to fall prey to the allurements of Congress but to use their right brain in selecting their representatives. He also appealed to all sections of people to strengthen the hand of AIUDF to rescue the suppressed and underprivileged castes and communities of the State with which objectives their party was formed. AIUDFs administrative general secretary and Bilasipara Paschim MLA Basir Ahmed Qashimi said that Muzaffar Ali sacrified himself to shape the future of the party and so their party workers should always be prepared for more sacrifices for the sake of obtaining the due of the downtrodden and oppressed people.

The meeting was also addressed by advocate Abdus Samad, general secretary of AIUDF, Mazibar Rahman Khan, State secretary, Hafiz Rafiqul Islam, secretary, Yuva Morcha, Aminul Islam, general secretary of Yuva Morcha, Administration, Mufti Abdul Hoque, State vice-president, Dewan Arshad Ahmed, district vice-president, Shajida Begum, secretary of Mohila Morcha, Kh Zakir Hussain, Shohidul Islam, ZPC members and Champak Kalita, secretary of Nagaon District Committee of AIUDF.

Late Muzaffars commemoration meeting was presided over by Anowar Hussain, president of Jania constituency committee of AIUDF.
