GUWAHATI, June 25 - The All India United Democratic Front has alleged that discrimination is being meted out to youths from Assam in particular and the North-east in general in Railway recruitment.

Party spokesperson Aminul Islam said such discrimination is unfortunate and cited the recent example wherein not even a single candidate from Assam was recruited for filling the vacancies of Commercial Inspector and Commercial Clerk in the NF Railway zone.

It is unfortunate that local youths are being deprived under the BJP regime which came to power on the promise of protecting their interests, he said.

He said BJP leaders earlier promised of more Central Govt jobs for youths from Assam, but the situation is totally different on the ground. Islam said that the Assamese youths are getting deprived of railway jobs at a time when an MP from the State is holding the post of Minister of State for Railways. The minister concerned should give an explanation to the people of Assam in this regard, he said. He alleged that the State government is helpless against the Hindi lobby.
