Theatre body condemns killing: Meanwhile, the Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA) has condemned Pegus brutal murder and demanded stringent punishment to the killers. The Association also expressed concern over the rising number of incidents of lynching and killing of Assamese people in the State.
We urge the government to provide compensation to the victims family. We want strict punishment to the murderers. It is also extremely unfortunate that some political leaders are trying to give the incident a religious angle.
We appeal to the government to maintain law and order in the State by punishing all the criminals, general secretary of IPTA Bipul Talukdar stated.
