AIUDF call to be united against IS

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 4 - Expressing concern over the growth of the Islamic State (IS) in neighbouring Bangladesh, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) today called upon everybody in Assam to unite against the global terrorist outfit.

AIUDF supremo and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal said in a statement that media reports, citing intelligence sources, about the presence of IS elements in Assam is a cause of concern and added that, if the reports are true, then there is a possibility of radicalisation of sections of the States youth.

Ajmal said the Muslims of Assam must take the lead in creating a mass movement against the IS.

He said that Muslims of Assam have always been against radical ideologies and sectarian beliefs and have always stood against terrorism.

We must ensure that groups like IS are not able to spread their base in Assam, said Ajmal.
