GUWAHATI, March 30 - To reach out to the grassroots to counter the growing Covid-19 threat, the All India Radio Guwahati is conducting daily programme Pratirodh involving sharing of information and interaction with the audience.

The programme has received positive response from the listeners who we try to educate and keep informed about the various facets of the global pandemic and the dos and donts for preventing a major outbreak. We cross-check information, play audio message and try to reply queries through an expert, connect officials and ministers over phone, and provide one-line info mostly on the State, Manas Pratim Sarma, News Editor, said.

He said the recent interactive sessions included communicating with the Air India staff involved in the Wuhan rescue. On Saturday we talked to the State Handloom & Textiles Minister, who announced measures for our weavers.

AIR now being available on the digital platform, it has managed to reach larger audiences across the globe. With wider penetration, we have reached out to new segments of audiences, Sarma said.

AIR Guwahati will also broadcast a novel radio learning programme of Sarva Shiksha Abhijan-Assam from April 6. The aim of the programme is to help students to be in touch with learning activities during the lockdown period, he said.
