Aids, appliances distributed among disabled

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 - Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), in association with CSR initiative of Central Railside Warehouse Company Ltd (CRWC), organized a day-long free distribution camp today for persons with disability at Bishnu Nirmala Bhawan, near Latasil Bihu field, here.

Altogether, 140 previously identified persons with various types of disabilities were provided with various aids, appliances and assistive devices such as tricycle, wheelchairs, crutches to persons with locomoters disability, digital BTE hearing aids to patients with hearing impairment, and Braille kits to students with visual impairment.

Yatin K Patel, DGM of CRWC, S Sengupta, Deputy Director of ALIMCO (North East region), Rajesh Kumar Das, Officer P&O of ALIMCO and D Bhattacharya, Rehabilitation Officer of VRCH, were present on the occasion.

ALIMCO is a 100 per cent government of India owned CPSU and the largest non-profit corporation under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The ALIMCO Outreach Centre based in Guwahati is the nodal office for all the eight North East Council States.
