NAGAON, Jan 1 � The Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti conferred the Aideu Handique Artist Award to well-known singer Sudakshina Sharma at a function held here recently.
Accepting the award Sudakshina Sharma observed that pen had strength to build a beautiful society. She expected that in this critical juncture of our society, the artist and litterateur should play an active role.
Singer Sharma recalled the sufferings of first Assamese actress Aideu Handique for acting in a movie. She presented three songs composed by Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla, her father Nila Kanta Hazarika and Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
The award was formally presented by well known writer Dr Shila Barthakur and Binita Dutta chaired the function. Sahityacharyya Mahim Bora also graced the occasion.
