JORABAT, May 31 - As in previous years, the Education Trust Dimoria (ETD) with support from the Dimoria regional unit of AASU will be financially helping the poor meritorious students of Dimoria region to pursue further studies after clearing HSLC, informed Dibyajyoti Medhi, general secretary of ETD.
Medhi said the trust has invited applications from suitable candidates, which can be submitted at the Dimoria AASU office. The executive committee of the AASU unit will examine the applications and select the beneficiaries.
On the other hand, the Dimoria regional unit of AASU has submitted memorandums to the DC of East Kamrup district, the SDC of Sonapur civil subdivision and various colleges and junior colleges of Dimoria demanding increase in the number of seats in the colleges as the number of students clearing the matriculation examination have increased drastically, but the number of seats have remained stagnant.
President (in-charge) of Dimoria regional unit of AASU Jatindra Nath Deka said the college authorities must reduce college fees and also help poor meritorious students who cannot manage fees.
