Aid to covid-hit needy people

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 24 - At a time when the COVID-19 induced lockdown has plunged the poorer section, especially the daily wage earners, into financial crisis, a Laos-based entrepreneur and philanthropist, who originally hails from Hojai, has chipped in with a much-needed support to the needy people, something worth emulating by the Assamese diaspora abroad.

Habib Mohammed Choudhury, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of HSMM Group of Companies, through JF Foundation for Humanity, distributed food and other essential items to the needy people in several districts of Assam.

The Foundation has so far reached out to more than 40,000 families in several districts, including Nagaon and Morigaon.

Talking to this newspaper, Chowdhury said that JF Foundation is trying to reach out to more and more needy people who have been severely affected by the lockdown.
