Aid for physically challenged people

DOOMDOOMA, Sept 27 - The Doomdooma branch of the All India Marwari Yuva Manch (AIMYM) today distributed 37 tricycles, 17 wheel chairs , 42 hearing aids, nine walking sticks, four blind sticks and several other equipment for physically challenged among 89 beneficiaries in a programme held at the Doomdooma Marwari Panchayati Bhawan here.

On this occasion, a meeting was held under the presidentship of Sunil Tayal, president of the Doomdooma branch AIMYM. The meeting was addressed among others by MLA of Doomdooma, Dilip Moran, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tinsukia district, PK Gogoi, zonal vice-president of AIMYM, Jitendra Periwal, journalist Abhijit Khataniar, social activists Ranjay Tanti and Raj Kumar Agarwal and the secretary of Tinsukia District Handicap Association, Tikheswar Dutta. All the speakers appreciated this noble gesture of the AIMYM.

The programme was also attended by senior citizen Chiranjilal Goyal, president of the Doomdooma Marwari Panchayati Bhawan, Kishan Pareek, secretary of the Doomdooma branch of the AIMYM, Piyush Modi, project chairman Bhawani Mandhania, and ALIMCO representative Animesh Kalita. The programme was anchored by former president of the Doomdooma branch AIMYM, Dinesh Goyal.

It can be mentioned here that the Doomdooma branch AIMYM organized an assessment camp of physically challenged people on June 27 and 28 in association with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Government of India undertaking. In that camp, 110 people were registered and among them the doctors selected 89 beneficiaries. Those beneficiaries were distributed materials worth Rs 8 lakh today.
