AHSEC seeks Govt nod to use portal for online admissions

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 12 - The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has written to the State government to let it use the portal Anneswan for online higher secondary first year admissions this year.

Reacting to the State governments notification to allow operation of the portal through the SEBA website, AHSEC has expressed its willingness to take the matter into its own hands as the authorised body to regulate, supervise and develop the system of HS education in the State, AHSEC sources said.

Anneswan, the common portal for online HS admission, which will be available on the website sebaonline.org as per the government notice, will accept application forms for admission from the students and will prepare a merit list. The principals of colleges, HS schools and senior secondary schools who are willing to avail this facility can register for the same online.

Meanwhile, the AHSEC Employees Union has also expressed its displeasure at the government's decision to allow the use of the SEBA website for online HS admissions, instead of the AHSEC.

We are deeply hurt by this decision. AHSEC was formed through a due statutory process under the HS Education Act and has been conducting the process of HS examinations thoroughly. We urge the government to channelise the entire online HS first year admission process under the supervision of the Council, office-bearers of the union stated.
