Ahimsa yatra programme

GUWAHATI, Nov 7 � The Acharya Tulsi Mahashraman Research Foundation is going to organise the Ahimsa Yatra Mangal Bhawna Anusthan on November 9 here in the presence of Sadhvi Pramila Kumari, the learned disciple of His Holiness Jain Acharya Shri Mahashraman.

This programme is going to be solemnised to mark the eve of commencement of his long �Ahimsa Yatra� from Red Fort, Delhi.

This yatra to be taken by Acharya and his disciples on foot is to cover a distance of about 10,000 km spread over the State of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya. It will also cover the neighbouring countries of Nepal and Bhutan. With this programme at Guwahati a number of programmes will be launched to create awareness about the objectives and relevance of the said Ahimsa Yatra and promote the establishment of non-violence in society. This was stated in a press release.

Acharya Shri Mahashraman has also given his consent to hold his pious Chaturmas at Guwahati in 2016 which is going to be first such occasion in the 260-year-old history of Jain Shwetamber Terapanth. His preachings are for eternity and above caste, creed and faith. The acharya and his disciples numbering more than 800 monks and nuns are always on padyatra across the country to spread the message of peace and non-violence. They are constantly working on the burning issues of environment, female infanticide and foeticide.

Acharya Tulsi Mahashraman Research Foundation, Guwahati, under the presidentship of Ranjit Kumar Malu has been constituted to arrange the land and required infrastructural support for the upcoming Ahimsa Yatra and 2016 Chaturmas.

A plot of land has already been acquired for the purpose. The foundation will also undertake projects in the field of research and training of non-violence and humanitarian subjects with special emphasis on the North-east.

Thousands of devotees from all over the country and abroad will visit the Chaturmas Sthal at Garal, Dharapur. The Chief Minister has assured full cooperation to the programmes of the foundation and has assured to declare Acharya Shri as the State Guest in due course, the release added.
