AGVB observes Vigilance Awareness Week

GUWAHATI, Oct 30 - Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), the largest regional rural bank in the north-eastern region, is observing Vigilance Awareness Week through its branches and offices spread across the State.

In accordance with the directives from the Central Vigilance Commission, the bank organised an awareness meeting at the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) in the city today to sensitise the staff of the bank in particular and the public in general regarding maintenance of transparency in public life.

Dr Kuladhar Saikia, retired DGP and president Asam Sahitya Sabha, attended the meeting as chief guest where a large number of bank staff and public participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Saikia appealed to all to be vigilant everywhere to eradicate corruption of any type and to take a resolution �not to give and not to take any bribe� so as to make society corruption-free on every front. He also administered the integrity pledge to all the participants and appreciated the bank for organising the programme.

The meeting was also addressed by Aurobindo Das, general manager; Manoj Kumar Das, general manager and Dipankar Baruah, HoD (Vigilance), AGVB. All the speakers stressed the need for eradication of corruption from every sphere and for vigilance in resisting any scope of corruption.

Archana Das anchored the programme, while Pratiksha Patowari offered the vote of thanks.
