AGSU organises Mukoli Bihu at Judges� Field

GUWAHATI, April 16 � Mukoli Bihu � an open field celebration of Bihu was organised in the Judges� Field of Guwahati by the All Guwahati Students� Union (AGSU) on April 14.

The students� body felicitated many noted personalities on the occasion for their valuable contributions in various fields. Padmasree award winner Mahim Bora, Sangeet Natak Akademi award winner Manik Barbayan, Sahitya Academy award winners Keshada Mahanta, Gagan Chandra Adhikari, Anupama Dutta Saikia, Arabinda Uzir, Uthrechar Basumatari, Tarapati Upadhayay, Nabin Malla Boro, Sangeet Natak Akademi (youth award) winner Sukracharya Rabha, Menaka PP Bora, National Film award winner Hiren Bora, noted actor Badal Das and sportsperson Dr Nandini Barua were among those who were felicitated on the occasion by All Assam Students� Union (AASU) advisor Dr Samujjal Kr Bhattacharyya.

Earlier, noted Assamese actor Biju Phukan and AASU president Sankar Prasad Ray hoisted the Bihu flag and the AASU flag respectively at 11 am, which was followed by a swahid tarpan programme, started by AASU general secretary Tapan Kumar Gogoi.

The Mukoli Bihu programme also acted as a forum for different communities of the State to present their culture and dance forms. A team of elderly women of Rabha community performed the Bagejari dance and young boys and girls of the Moran community of Kakopathar of Tinsukia district presented their Moran Bihu dance. Nahar Phular Batarate�- a musical programme was presented by noted artiste Dolly Ghosh.

The event was participated by many Bihu huchori teams from across the State. Popular artiste and film personalities including Chetana Das, Moloya Goswami, Bihuwa Somnath Bora, Khagen Gogoi, Ranjeet Gogoi, Prasen Bora, Madhurima Choudhury, Jatin Bora, Nishita Goswami, Krishnamani Chutiya, Bhitali Das and Angarag Mahanta among others who participated at the Mukoli Bihu function.
