GUWAHATI, June 30 � The All Guwahati Students� Union (AGSU) today raised the demand for constitution of an expert committee, comprising the experts of IIT Guwahati, Assam Engineering College, and the city-based individual experts, for finding out a solution to the city�s problems of flash flood and landslide.
The AGSU called for steps to save the city from the above problems with the application of improved measures made available by modern science and technology within a fixed time-frame. Opposing the Government�s approach to solve the above problems through patch works, it said that the present situation calls for urgent steps to evolve short-term and long-term measures. Stating that the city has become the epicentre of cultural and academic activities of the people of the NE, it asserted that the govt should take up bold steps with the help of experts to develop Guwahati into a modern metropolis.
