AGSU flays CM for floods

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 27 The All Guwahati Students Union today lambasted Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for the State government and GDDs utter failure to control artificial floods despite spending crores of rupees.

Alleging that the problem is aggravating with every passing year, the students body said that half-a-dozen of State government departments and agencies are responsible for the unfortunate deaths and the worst waterlogging in the city today.

In a statement, the AGSU said that the deplorable condition of city in a single days rainfalls has exposed the face of State government and has also proved the worthlessness of its developmental schemes.

Guwahati Development Department, Guwahati Municipal Corporation, GMDA, PWD, Water Resource, Power and Irrigation departments badly lack coordination, planning and the intention to work for people. The unfortunate incidents in the city are a glaring example of this, said a statement.

The students body also extended its sympathy to the family members of the persons who lost their lives in flash flood and electrocution and demanded adequate compensation for them.
