By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Jan 25 - State PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya inaugurated the two-day Krishi Mela organised by the Department of Agriculture, Cachar, on Tuesday. The mela was organised at the Bipin Pal Ground here.

Addressing the farmers, the PWD minister slammed the former Congress government alleging that rampant corruption during its regime swallowed crores of money meant for development of the agricultural sector. We are aware of the massive degree of corruption and the damage done to the agricultural sector because of the unabated foul play. But the BJP-led government is maintaining a clear stance against the rising instances of corruption and wishes to make this sector transparent so that the schemes meant for development could be utilised in the best possible manner, Suklabaidya said.

Former Union minister Kabindra Purkayastha, Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan and District Agriculture Officer JH Choudhury attended the inaugural ceremony.
