Agriculture Minister flags off vehicles

JORABAT, July 16 - Agriculture Minister Atul Bora flagged off three vehicles carrying around 1 lakh saplings and grafts to three districts of the State during a distribution programme organised by the Agriculture department at the Horticulture Farm, Byrnihat, today.

Bora also inaugurated a model floriculture nursery under the 100-day work schedule of the Chief Minister of Assam at the Horticulture Farm, Byrnihat.

The districts where the saplings would be distributed are Kamrup, Morigaon and Golaghat. Farmers from all over the State took part in the distribution programme. They felicitated the minister with bouquets and gamochas.

The Agriculture Minister was accompanied by Dispur MLA Atul Bora (BJP), Kamal-pur MLA, Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and sattradhikars and baaps from various sattras of the State.

In his address to the public, minister Bora said that the State needs to do more in the field of agriculture. The new government has started taking steps for its development, he claimed, adding that agricultural land in the State needs to freed from industries in the vicinity.
