Agri Minister reviews lockdown enforced in Jorhat district

JORHAT, March 26 - State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, who is in-charge of Jorhat and Golaghat districts, on Thursday reviewed the situation of lockdown enforced in Jorhat district with civil administration and police officials at the Jorhat Circuit House.

Bora also took stock of other preventive measures taken against the outbreak of novel coronavirus.

Speaking to newspersons at the Circuit House, Bora said he had a discussion with the district administration and police officials on the enforcement of lockdown across the district to prevent any possible outbreak of COVID-19.

The Minister said he asked the administration to take strong steps against any violation, but also ensure that people involved in emergency and essential services were allowed to do their job.

Bora said he was briefed about measures undertaken by the administration to let people buy their essentials and medicines.

He appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration by adhering to various restrictions and rules put in place during the lockdown period.

The Minister stated he also reviewed steps taken to ensure that those people returning home from outside the state in recent times and who were issued isolation notices were following the guidelines mentioned in the notices.

Bora said the district administration has taken all the necessary measures to treat possible COVID-19 positive cases at the JMCH.

He said the administration has been coordinating with the tea garden managements for implementing all necessary measures including sanitation and hygiene during the lockdown period and the tea estate managements were extending their cooperation in this regard.

The Minister informed that the State government had taken steps for smooth supply of essential commodities in the tea gardens.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati, Superintendent of Police Mrinal Talukdar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bipul Das were among the senior officials present in the meeting chaired by Bora.
