AGP worker locks up gate of partys head office

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 7 - Miffed at reports about likelihood of an alliance between the AGP and the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, a person, claiming to be an AGP worker, locked up the entrance gate of the regional partys head office at Ambari here today.

The incident took place around 11 am. The man, identified as Montu Dutta and hailing from Jorhat, locked the main gate of the AGP office.

He also engaged in a verbal duel with some AGP members, including workers of the womens wing of the party, who were inside the office at that time.

Dutta said he was upset after reports emerged that the regional party might renew its ties with the BJP and contest the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with the saffron outfit.

However, after about half an hour, Dutta unlocked the gate after he was told by the AGP members that there was no such truth in the reports about an alliance between the party and BJP.

Meanwhile, AGP leaders denied that Dutta is a member of the party.
